Much Ado About Beans

Hi, I'm Frances and this is a place where I like to share life, even though it may have its dark moments it is over all a good life - especially if you've got a good sense of humor.

I'm a Marine Veteran, a wife and mama, things definitely tend to get buckwild around these parts.

I served eight years in the Marine Corps and loved almost every single moment. I worked in the Public Affairs field as a Combat Correspondent (yes I've seen Full Metal Jacket, no, unfortunately I was never given the nickname Joker).
This has been a great job; I found the most interesting stories from people came when I would just be real with them. Same goes for here, I will be open and as real with you as I can get and you can be the true you and I'm gonna like it, why? Because being all judgey is lame and totally sucks the life out of you. Plus, I wouldn't have room to judge. I haven't always been the good, light-hearted and encouraging person I have become, I actually used to be pretty awful, but the great thing about being human is we get to grow and change. If we're lucky we will get to grow and change with each other here so I hope you stick around for a while!

One person I've suckered into sticking around me for a while is my husband. I met the Sergeant (Sgt.), a country boy from Eastern Iowa, a little over four years ago and to be honest I don't think I can say I suckered him in. He met me when I was still a pretty unhappy person and yet continued on Loving me.

Our story begins with a dog.

Her name was Lance Corporal Belleau Wood, or just Bella. She was the English Bulldog mascot aboard Recruit Depot San Diego in 2010. Upon arriving from Okinawa, Japan, one of my collateral duties was to take care of her and take her through obedience training with the K-9 unit on base.
I will probably expand on our story at a different time but it's a short one. We dated only a short time before we were married- which in the Marine Corps is not uncommon, but still frowned upon and no one believes you guys will make it past a year. Two years tops.

Well, here we are going on four years later - so suck on that haters!

Just about two months before our one-year wedding anniversary I gave birth to the whole reason I am alive, the purpose of my Life. When the Monster was born that most glorious Monday morning (that will more than likely be the only time you will see glorious used to describe a Monday morning), I looked at him and knew what I was born to do. He is by far the greatest adventure The Sgt. and I have ever been on and we wouldn't change it for the world.

In fact we are thinking about growing our family...

If you've read this far I hope you'll take a little time to look around and join in on sharing life together.
